What To Recycle

Recycling is easy, just as 1, 2, 3!

3. Do not bag it!

Remember to never bag your recyclables, materials should be placed in the recycling bin loose. Remember if you followed step 2, there should not be any need to bag your items.

What Can Be Recycled

If the items you're trying to recycle are not pictured below, you should NOT place them in your recycling bin.


Remember, when in doubt its best to leave out.

THINGS THAT CAN BE RECYCLED:


  • CARDBOARD (ie. cereal boxes, shoe boxes, television boxes, pizza boxes, and shipping boxes)
  • PAPER (ie. newspaper, catalogs, magazines, office paper, and books)
  • PLASTIC (ie. soda bottles(coded 1 & 2), milk jugs, water jugs, detergent/cleaning bottles, plastic bottles, and jugs)
  • ALUMINUM CANS (ie. aluminum and beverage/soda cans)
  • TIN CANS (ie. tin, aerosol, food cans)
  • GLASS (ie. glass bottles, glass jars)


TIPS ON RECYCLING:


  • Be sure to rinse out any item that contained food or liquids before placing into your recycling bin.
  • Plastic bags are NOT accepted
  • Plastics coded #1 and #2 are the only ones accepted, be sure to look for these recycling symbols. (Refer to symbols below)


WHAT CANNOT BE RECYCLED


Not everything can be recycled, even if it's made up of recyclable materials. Plastics like clothes hangers, grocery bags, and toys aren't always recyclable in your curbside bin.


The images here are items we've found in the recycling line that should NOT be recycled. Please do not recycle these items as.


Other things that cannot be recycled are cups (ie. waxed beverage cups, styrofoam cups, cutlery, and paper plates), containers (ie. pesticide containers, oil containers, paint cans), glass bulbs (ie. windshield window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, pottery, ceramics), toilet paper (ie. toilet paper, paper towels, wipes, and other personal hygiene), and plastic bags (ie. plastic shopping bags, grocery store bags, and shipping bags).


WHAT TO RECYCLE ONLY AT THE RECYCLING CENTER

  • BATTERIES - only vehicle and lawnmower tractor batteries are accepted
  • COMPUTERS - computers, scanners, printers, and monitors, there is no fee for bringing these products to the recycling center.
  • CELL PHONES - cell phones contain a numerous amount of hazardous substances, which can pollute the air when burned in landfills, they contain chemicals that leak into our soil and drinking water, these cellphones will be recycled and/or disposed of according to all EPA guidelines with the support of the American Cellular Donation Organization
