ABOUT THIS PIECE

This piece is meant to show the beautiful animals that call the Rio Grande Valley home. Here in the RGV, we have a very unique ecosystem that lends itself to a wide-range of special animals. I chose to depict three of my favorite animals; the endangered ocelot with its beautifully patterned body, the keen coyote with its gray and buff-colored coat, and the quick jackrabbit and its perky ears. I wanted the piece to be a bold portrait of each animal, so I chose a close-up shot of each. You can see the workings of their primal instincts through their intense stares. - Oneida Trevino
